End of Summer Makeup

Last week I showed you a few of my favorite products of the moment – products I felt were definitely a little more summery but can still be used for fall. In this post I’ll show you how to create a soft and simple everyday makeup look using several of those products. The great thing about this look is it’s super easy and can be done fast. My wonderful friend Sadaf agreed to be my model so show her some love! Also – let me know how you all like the layout I have for a tutorial. Any feedback or suggestions is appreciated!

Products Used:

  • Bare Minerals Foundation in Medium Beige
  • Bare Minerals Well Rested Concealer
  • Bare Minerals Warmth
  • Rimmel Pro Eyebrow Pencil in Black Brown
  • Urban Decay Primer Potion
  • MAC eyeshadow in Expensive Pink
  • MAC eyeshadow in Soft Brown
  • MAC eyeshadow in Carbon
  • Lancome eyeshadow in Couture
  • Lancome eyeshadow in Daylight
  • Clinique Gel Liner in True Black
  • Prescriptives Soft Lining Pencil in Jet Black
  • Rimmel Scandal Eyes Mascara
  • Benefit Blush in Sugar Bomb
  • Lancome Lipstick in Natural Beauty

Remember, it’s not necessary to use these exact colors – just use what you have that’s similar. Take a look at the pictures below to get an idea of the ones I’ve used:

Expensive Pink, Soft Brown, Carbon

Bottom Left: Couture, Top Right: Daylight

The Look:

  • After moisturizing the face, apply a small amount of Bare Minerals Well Rested concealer underneath the eyes, around the nose, and through the brow bone. For lighter coverage, use a fluffy blending brush. For heavier coverage, use a flat, synthetic concealer brush.
  • Apply the Bare Minerals Foundation all over the face using a soft kabuki brush. If you want a heavier coverage, repeat blending the foundation all over the face twice. Don’t worry – you can get away with doing this using mineral foundation since it hardly ever looks cakey on the face. Just be sure to use large circular motions.

  • Dust Warmth (a matte bronzer) over the temples, under the cheek bone, along the jaw line, and over the nose to create a sun-kissed look.
  • Fill in the brows with your brow pencil by using quick, soft strokes to create a natural look. If you find that you’ve applied too much, just use the brow brush on the other end of the pencil to brush through your brows and tone down the color.
  • Prep the eyelids by adding a small amount of Urban Decay Primer Potion
  • Apply MAC eye shadow in Expensive Pink all over the lid and stop at the crease. Blend with a fluffy brush around the edges to create a soft effect.

  • Using the same fluffy brush, apply MAC eye shadow in Soft Brown through the crease. Repeat this step a few times if you want to create a stronger crease color. Use a light hand and small circular motions.

  • Take Lancome eye shadow in Couture and apply it to the outer edge of the eye in a square shape – blending slightly into the crease, but don’t go too far in. Layer the color by repeating this step a couple times.

  • Using Clinique gel liner in True Black, line the upper lash line – keep it thin and stop at the end of the eye.

  • To soften the liner, apply MAC eye shadow in Carbon with an angled brush over the gel liner, smudging the liner with the shadow.
  • Using the Prescriptives pencil, tightline your upper lash line (apply the pencil to your upper water line).
  • Run the Prescriptives pencil liner underneath the eyes, but only go 3/4s of the way.
  • Again, soften the bottom liner with MAC eye shadow in Carbon.
  • Blend some of the Daylight eyeshadow underneath the brow bone to highlight the area.

  • Curl the lashes with an eye lash curler and apply mascara to both the top and bottom lashes.
  • For the cheeks, using a blush brush, blend Sugarbomb over the apples of the cheeks.
  • Finally, apply Lancome’s lipstick in Natural Beauty. This is a soft nude color that adds just the right amount of color without looking too heavy.

Hope you give it a try!
